Daughter Is A 9th Grader And Wants To Use Birth Control Pill. OK Or Not?

Daughter wants more predictable, lighter periods and better control of acne. Says she has no plans for intercourse, which I believe, at least for now. Is she more likely to have sex earlier than she might have?

Just make sure you let her know your stance on sex has not changed just because she is on the pill.
Just make sure when she is put on the pill that it is explained to her it is not 100% effective as contraception so she still needs to think carefully about having sex regardless.

I started the pill when I was 14 to help with my periods, I used to faint during my periods from blood loss, so I definately needed to have some control over them!
And yes it helped so much with acne!
But if she is not thinking of it now, the pill will not affect that.
That she is only on the pill for medical reasons, and that it is not 100% effective against sex anyway so she still needs to think carefully before having sex, regardless of the pill or not.

It sounds as though your daughter has done her research, and if she has previously been trustworthy, you have no reason to doubt her motives for wanting to go on the pill.
